About University
Omsk State Medical University is counted among the ancient Universities of Siberia. Founded in 1920, as the Medical Division of Siberian Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Zoology, with an enrolment of 186 students. West Siberian State Medical Institute was renamed as Omsk State Medical Institute. In 2015, the Academy was designated with the status of University.
Today Omsk is one of the leading Medical University of Siberian region and Russia as a whole. University’s educational quality is observed by the Quality Management System Certificate of Conformity. OSMU has been constantly ranked among the Top 100 Universities of Russia.
The university has trained about 35,000 doctors till now in its faculties. It is the best in delivering quality medical education in the English language as an intermediary language.

Accommodation
Accommodation facility in dormitories provides homely ambience to the students.
There are three dormitories that house about 1,344 students studying at the University. Rooms can accommodate 2 or 3 students. Every dorm is equipped with kitchens, bathrooms, rooms for self-preparation and sports activities as well as shower units. Each room has three beds, bedside tables, chairs, a wardrobe, two tables and a kitchen cupboard. Access to the internet is available every time in the dorms.
Availability of Indian food in hostel’s mess is a great relief to Indian students.
Library
The Library of Omsk State Medical University (OSMU library) is one of the oldest libraries among medical libraries in Russia. The library of OSMU was founded in 1921 in newly established West Siberian State Medical Institute.
University’s library is the largest one among the medical institutions of Russia. It has over 600 000 volumes in its collection and many unique publications are among them. The library has a fully equipped computer hall with the Internet access.
Scientific activity
The students and specialists are trained with utmost priority by the university staff, where much emphasis is laid on the research work. Entities such as the academic council, student scientific bureau, and doctoral thesis boards participate in promoting scientific research work. Some of the domains that are well researched upon are reproductive health, medical issues of Narcology, clinical studies on surgeries, hygiene, oral health, mental and terminal stress well-being, and drug assistance.
Student Life
The department of extra-curricular and social activities carries out many fun activities, cultural and sports activities on the campus.
University has six dormitories for accommodating its international students.
Students in the dorms, keep the dormitories in good order to organize special events, competitions and exhibitions.
There are 22 specialized sports clubs in OSMU including two big gyms, five fitness centres and the Olympic sports complex with a pool.
Every year the University takes part in the Healthy Lifestyle University competition.
OSMU is a world of opportunities and activities which has creative groups for regional, national and international competitions.
OSMU has one of the oldest & rich libraries of medical libraries in Russia, with about 600,000 printed titles.
