About Bukhara State Medical Institute


Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali ibn Sino was established by Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR on 24th August 1990. Bukhara is known as the birthplace of Abu Ali ibn Sino – Avicenna, a world-renowned scientist who is in many ways considered the progenitor of medicine. Bukhara Medical Institute is a non-profit public higher education institution coeducational higher education institution located in the urban setting of the small city of Bukhara. Bukhara is rich in historical sites, with about 140 architectural monuments. Located on the Silk Road, the city has long served as a center of trade, scholarship, culture, and religion.

Educational Activities

Bukhara State Medical Institute is engaged in educational activities for the implementation of basic and supplementary education programs of higher education, as well as carries out teaching-pedagogical, scientific-methodological and other activities.

Accreditation and Recognition

The University has been accredited and recognized by the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialised Education, Uzbekistan. The University offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study.

Hostel and Accommodation


The student hostel of the Bukhara State Medical Institute has a capacity of 500 beds.
  • The rooms are well furnished, comfortable with excellent security facilities.
  • All rooms are equipped with heating systems, hot and cold water, washrooms, modern LCD televisions, washing machines, and furniture.
  • Kitchens are equipped with gas stoves and refrigerators for students who want to cook their own meals.
  • There is a separate library for students, sports hall, spiritual enlightenment rooms, recreation rooms and parents’ rooms in the hostel.
