About S. Kuznets KNUE
Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics (KhNU of Economics) is the biggest economic education centre in the city of Kharkiv and one of the best economic higher education institutions in Ukraine.
Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics (KhNU of Economics), the successor of Kharkiv Engineering and Economics Institute (KhEEI), was founded on October 22, 1930 on the basis of the Industrial Faculty of Kharkiv National Economy Institute. According to the results of state accreditation in 1994 KhEEI was renamed Kharkiv State University of Economics. The President Decree, dated August 21, 2004 granted the University the National status.
Today KhNU of Economics is one of the highly reputable Ukrainian higher educational establishments in the field of economics. Having the three-year experience in the implementation of the independent student assessment system, in 2005 KhNU of Economics became the first higher education institution in Ukraine, in which the Republican Center of Testing Technologies conducted independent enrollee testing.
The education process is provided by the faculty of 735 lecturers, 60 Doctors of Science and 438 Candidates of Science among them. Seven faculties function in the University (Faculty of Economy and Law, Faculty of Economic Informatics, Faculty of Management and Marketing, Faculty of International Economic Relations, Faculty of Consulting and International Business, Finance Faculty, Faculty of Training Foreign Citizens) as well as Correspondence and Distance Education Department, Post-Graduate and Doctoral schools, specialized academic councils, research and learning laboratories.
Within the framework of cooperation with the University of Cambridge, exams for Business English Certificates (BEC) have been held since 2010. So far, 198 lecturers and 260 students have successfully passed this exam and have been awarded BEC certificates. KhNU of Economics obtained the status of the Independent BEC Candidate Training Centre of the University of Cambridge.
KhNU of Economics hosts national and international representative scientific and business forums.
In the University, 5 international centres are currently functioning: Centre for Innovative Knowledge of the World Bank in Ukraine, Information Centre of the European Union, Information Centre of the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR), Center of University Success (CUS), Start-Up. The visitors of these centers are provided all the necessary consulting and information services as to the policy and research of the given organizations, can freely access materials and use the electronic catalogue, electronic publications and statistical data on various fields of activity. The information file of the centres is regularly replenished.
Student groups aimed at students development being socially active and persistent people fuction in the University. With this aim, the following groups were formed: students, PhD and Doctoral students scientific association; “Artlimon” dance group; Mafia Club in KhNU of Economics, Club of the cheerful and sharp-witted; debate club; “Kuznetsy” theatre ensemble; “Roksolana” performance group; various sports groups. Beauty pageants for first-year students and annual contests “Miss University” and “Student Spring” are regularly held.

In the last years, the University has become an internationally acclaimed science and education centre, the activity of which is aimed at training highly qualified specialists for Ukraine as well as for 40 countries in the world. The quality of specialists’ training at the University is proved by the fact that in the last 5 years over 300 alumni obtained a Ukrainian Master Degree diploma along with the diplomas of the universities of France and Austria within the framework of the double diploma programmes.
The University has double diploma Master programmes: Master programmes “Business Informatics” and Master programme “Tourism, Cultural Heritage, Leisure Activities” in cooperation with L’Universite Lumiere Lyon 2 (France); Polish-Ukrainian Master programme for training specialists in “Business Administration” in cooperation with Wyższa Szkoła Zarządzania Ochroną Pracy in Katowice.
Taking into account rapid development of the University, its constant work aimed at education quality improvement, tight cooperation with the leading institutions of Ukraine and Europe, Simon Kuznets National University of Economics is heading confidently into the future training the economic elite of Ukraine.
